Tea tree oil is an essential oil extracted from the leaves and buds of a northern Australian shrub (Melaleuca alternifolia) by steaming. It consists of almost 100 chemical components, most of them belong to the group of monoterpenes. Its main component (about 30%) is terpene-4-ol, which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. Another important active ingredient, 1,8-cineol, which has a mucolytic and analgesic effects, and may also help in the treatment of respiratory diseases.

Usage: Add 3-8 drops to the water in an aroma evaporator or electric diffuser. To care for skin and scalp to relieve itching, mix 2-5 drops in 1 teaspoon of carrier oil for topical use.
