Two well-known types of cinnamon are worth mentioning.
The real, i.e. Ceylon cinnamon and the cassia, i.e. Chinese cinnamon.
CEYLON CINNAMON BARK
INCI Name: Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Oil
The shell consists of thin, paper-like layers and is easily broken. It smells sweet, spicy, sophisticated.
It is obtained from the bark of the tree by steam distillation. Main active ingredient: cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, beta-caryophyllene.
The essential oil is a broad-spectrum anti-infectious, blood-enhancing, and tonic agent.
CASSIA CINNAMON
INCI Name: Cinnamomum cassia bark oil
The ingredients of Cassia cinnamon contain large amounts of coumarins, which are also considered a risky ingredient for internal consumption and skin care.
Ceylon cinnamon has a higher antioxidant content, so it protects more effectively against free radicals, and its skin protective and antiaging effect is more pronounced.
Cassia also contains antioxidants, but among the ingredients of Ceylon cinnamon there are more polyphenols, which increases its skin protection effects.
Anti-inflammatory properties:
Both types of cinnamon are anti-inflammatory, but Ceylon cinnamon is gentler on the skin due to its finer composition and is less likely to cause irritation.
Ginkgo biloba is native to China, where it has been used in traditional medicine.
