SUMMER SKIN CARE: ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS

The summer months are typically characterized by sunlight, beach outings, and outdoor activities. While we enjoy the opportunities that summer brings, it can also bring several skin care issues. Sunburn, dehydrated skin, pigmentation spots, and excessive sebum production are all challenges that we may have to face.

SUMMER SKIN CARE: ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS

In our article, we will explore these problems and share some effective solutions to help your skin stay healthy and radiant during the summer season.

     Sunburn

Sunburn is one of the most common skin problems during the summer. Intense UV radiation can easily damage our skin, leading to red, painful burns. Sunburn can have long-term consequences, including premature ageing of the skin and even skin cancer.

     Solution:

    • Use sunscreen: Always apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 about 20-30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply it regularly.
    • If your skin is already sunburned, focus on soothing and regenerating the irritated skin. Use an after-sun cooling product containing skin-soothing ingredients like Aloe Vera, panthenol, and allantoin to alleviate redness, itching, discomfort, and dryness caused by sun exposure, and E-vitamin to protect the skin from harmful free radicals, thus supporting intense skin regeneration.

    Dehydrated skin

Intense sun exposure, hot weather, frequent water usage, and increased sweating can all lead to skin dryness, resulting in various issues such as dryness, itching, discomfort, irritation, and flaking.

    Solution:

    • Stay hydrated: Maintain internal hydration by drinking plenty of water, refreshments, and hydrating beverages.
    • Use moisturizers and serums: During summer skincare, using a moisturizer is crucial. Opt for lightweight, water-based moisturizers or serums that contain ingredients to help maintain skin moisture and prevent moisture loss. An ideal choice may include products with the following components:
      • Hyaluronic acid: This ingredient can retain moisture in the skin, contributing to maintaining hydration.
      • Glycerin: It has excellent moisturizing properties and helps preserve the skin's natural moisture.
      • Aloe vera: It has anti-inflammatory effects and soothes the skin, while also providing hydration.
      • Antioxidants: Ingredients like vitamin C help protect the skin from damage caused by harmful free radicals.

    Pigmentation spots

Sun exposure can lead to the development of pigmentation spots, which appear as darker patches on the skin. These spots typically occur on the face, hands, and shoulders and result from excessive melanin production due to sun exposure.

    • Sun Protection: One of the most crucial steps in preventing pigmentation spots is proper sun protection. Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and wear a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing when in the sun.
    • Brightening Creams: Look for skincare products that contain brightening ingredients such as vitamin C or niacinamide. These creams can help reduce the appearance of pigmentation spots and brighten the skin.

     Excessive sebum production

The hot and humid summer weather can result in excessive sebum production for many people, leading to oily, sticky skin.

    Solution:

Cleansing: It's important to cleanse your face regularly to remove excess oil and impurities. Use mild cleansers that don't dry out the skin.

Toning: The use of toners can help regulate oil production and refresh the skin. Choose alcohol-free toners that do not irritate the skin.

Matte Products: Use matte-finish moisturizers or makeup products that can help reduce the stickiness and shine of the skin.

During summer skincare, you may encounter various issues, but effective solutions are available for these problems. With these simple steps, your skin can stay healthy and radiant throughout the summer season!
