SPRING SKINCARE - OR HOW TO SWITCH YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE INTO SPRING MODE!

As nature begins to wake up and the first rays of spring sunshine appear, we too long for renewal and a lush, healthy glow. But the long winter months have not passed without a trace, our skin still bears the symptoms: duller, duller, drier, dryer, rough in places and almost crying out for energy.

SPRING SKINCARE - OR HOW TO SWITCH YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE INTO SPRING MODE!

There's no need to worry, because with the right spring skincare routine in place, you can not only keep your skin healthy and glowing, but also prepare it for the summer months.

Of course, in addition to regular home skin care and beauty treatments, we should also support renewal from within by eating as many seasonal vegetables and fruits as possible or by taking targeted vitamin supplements.

IF YOU WANT GLOWING, VIBRANT SKIN IN THE SPRING, HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO FOLLOW:

    1. Start peeling smart!

Spring is the best time to brighten up thickened skin that has become dull over the winter, so that it can breathe again and improve its permeability. This is important because it allows the active ingredients in serums and creams to be absorbed better and more deeply. Both chemical and physical exfoliation can be incorporated into your spring skincare routine, but it's best to use a creamy eraser combining a chemical (fruit acid) and mechanical peel once a week.

Be careful not to overdo it, as your skin will first show signs of flaking and then become irritated with over-zealous exfoliation: thinning and red patches appear.

    2. Go for the lighter moisturisers!

Thorough hydration is a must all year round for a healthy skin barrier. While a rich, creamy moisturiser can feel divine in the cold, winter months, it's no longer comfortable as temperatures and humidity rise. With the change of season, it's also advisable to change your moisturiser to a lighter, gel or lotion texture that won't clog pores or leave a greasy feeling. We can use any active ingredient that can lock a lot of water deep into our skin: ceramides, hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, FUCOGEL®.

If you want to be really thorough, you can even boost the effect with a serum before the moisturiser to keep your skin from thirsting!

Ceramides: ceramides are the main component of our skin's epithelium, including the stratum corneum. Ceramides, together with cholesterol and saturated fatty acids, form a protective layer that prevents excessive water loss through evaporation.

    Products containing ceramide:

Fucogel®: a high viscosity, high molecular weight polysaccharide, biotechnologically produced from plant-based raw materials. Highly effective skin softener, powerful moisturizer, tightens the skin and restructures the contours of the face, leaving a soft skin sensation.

    Products containing Fucogel®:

Sodium PCA: A cosmetic ingredient that is naturally found in the skin and plays an important role in skin hydration and moisture retention. It is one of the Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) found in the upper layer of the skin. These substances help keep the skin hydrated and soft and prevent moisture loss. Its moisturising and skin nourishing properties can help to keep the skin hydrated and supple. It can also help protect the skin from environmental stresses and soothe irritation caused by dryness.

    3. You can't start early enough!

Even though the weather is getting warmer, it still feels mild and you may not realise how strong and damaging the sun's rays are. The hours of sunshine are increasing by the day and hours spent outdoors can inevitably leave their mark on the skin. Not to mention that sun protection plays a huge role in preventing premature ageing of the skin. Our BB cream or day cream should contain SPF and for those who struggle with pigment spots or want to prevent the damaging effects of photo-aging, an SPF30 or SPF50 sunscreen is a must.

    4. Finally, what are the active ingredients that revitalise the skin?

It's vital to incorporate skin-protecting vitamins with antioxidant properties into your routine. If we spend more time outdoors, it's time to stock up on antioxidants that help prevent premature ageing and damage to the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid: This ingredient helps hydrate and plump skin by attracting and retaining moisture.

Vitamin A: protects the skin, participates in the formation of new skin cells and helps prevent acne and skin pigmentation.

Vitamin C: free radical scavenger, activates collagen synthesis and affects amino acid metabolism. Inhibits melanin synthesis, resulting in even skin tone and lighter pigmentation.

Niacinamide: A form of vitamin B3, it helps regulate sebum production and improves the skin's protective function, effectively treating acne with its anti-inflammatory agents.
