We talked to Eszter Tamás, a beautician, about the role of the most important vitamins, which are crucial in autumn skin care.
What are the most important autumn skin care vitamins?
This is a difficult question, almost all vitamins are important when it comes to skin care. I would like to underline the importance of vitamin A, as it plays an essential role in the renewal of skin cells and helps the skin to regenerate. It contributes to the removal of age spots and keeps skin, hair and gums healthy. Vitamin E nourishes and preserves the youthful skin, delays ageing and provides protection against free radicals from environmental damage. In the autumn, vitamin C is a must, it strengthens the immune system, boosts collagen production and makes the skin more supple, firmer, vibrant and youthful.
What happens to our skin in case of vitamin deficiency?
The signs of vitamin deficiency are the itchy, red, peeling and tight skin. It's a warning sign if you notice any of the above, as it can cause lethargy, fatigue, osteoporosis and, in more serious cases, a weakened immune system.
What role do antioxidants play in autumn skin care?
The primary role of antioxidants is to neutralise and bind harmful free radicals. Once antioxidants get into the skin, they can bind free radicals before they cause serious damage to the skin.
Since you mentioned free radicals, how are they formed and what role do they play in skin care?
Harmful environmental factors such as UV radiation, smog and smoking cause free radicals to be released in the skin. In principle, free radicals are needed in the body to perform various important functions, but their excessive production is one of the main causes of skin ageing. It is worth using professional cosmetics containing grape seed oil, as they are the most effective against free radicals. Grapeseed oil eliminates the chain reactions caused by free radicals and prevents the damage and premature ageing of human cells and tissues.
